Esau said – “Jacob took away my birth right, NOW he hath taken away my blessing” – Vs 36
While crying for lost blessings – let’s examine when did we sell our spiritual birth right for a little appetite of the flesh?
1) The Bible says that Esau despised his birth right – Gen 25:34
The writer of the letter of Hebrews mentions that Esau was a profane person, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright and you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.
Therefore, never despise what God has given you. Whether small or big! It may be your family, church, ministry, job, land, building or people. Learn to value what God has given you. It is the fallen nature that underestimates what is given to us by God. Adam failed to keep (guard) the garden. What was the result? He lost it. What you don’t guard, take care or manage properly will be taken away from you ultimately. In the parable of Jesus the man who buried his talent, and did not manage well or cared for what the Lord had given to him. Lost the talent, and what was given was taken away from him.
Isaiah 54:2 says “………….Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes”. Strengthen, take good care of all that the Lord has given you. Don’t blow it away.
2) a) Esau took to wife the daughter of a Hittite which was a grief to Isaac and Rebecca (Gen 26:35)
b) Because his parents were not happy so he took another wife from the daughter of Heth (Ishmaelites)
All these wrong decisions and wrong actions give us the picture of his unstable and insatiable heart.
The Bible says that our hearts are deceitful above all things, and exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? (Jer 17:9). Therefore we need to check every desire that motivates of our heart. Why do we do what we do?
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues (wellsprings) of life”. No wonder David prayed in Psalms 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me”. Don’t allow evil desires to dwell in your heart. Ask God to set you free on the inside. Get rid of all confusion and double mindedness, rather be strong in the Word of God. Align your life according to God’s Word and grow under good leadership. Prayerfully make right and wise decisions that will glorify God.
3) Yet one hope – When you walk in Dominion you shall break the yoke (Vs 40)
Despite of all what Esau lost God still had mercy on him and showed him a way out of all bondage. The Lord gave him a secret, “When you walk in Dominion” you will be free.
Beloved right from the beginning God has called us to walk in Dominion. Adam failed there. But Jesus Christ the last Adam restored us our authority. By the power of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit we can once again walk in dominion and get out of all bondage in Jesus’ name!
Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!
The anointing will destroy the yoke!
Once again walk in authority.
Make right decision.
Live boldly for Jesus!
